In most public areas today, the corporation uses large garbage containers—often chest-level high—to collect household waste. While this system seems convenient, it comes with several drawbacks.

Due to public apathy, people often dump their garbage carelessly around these bins, and maintenance is frequently neglected. Because of the height, these containers can’t be emptied manually; only hydraulic trucks can do the job. As a result, the bottom layers of waste often remain uncollected, rotting and creating foul smells. Moreover, there’s no proper segregation or organization of the trash.

Proposed Solution:Large garbage containers should be placed only at main junctions or cluster points. In neighborhood areas, instead of such high bins, we can install steel garbage shelves—multi-row, multi-column racks at reachable height, with plate rails to prevent spillage.

This simple change solves two major issues:

1. Residents’ Convenience: People can easily place their properly packed garbage bags on these shelves without throwing or piling them carelessly.

2. Garbage Collectors’ Safety: Collectors can remove these bags quickly and cleanly, without touching rotten or scattered waste.

It’s a win–win for both sides. Stray dogs and animals can’t reach or scatter the waste, keeping streets cleaner.

Additionally, we can introduce a small compost bin in selected areas for food waste, allowing birds or animals to feed naturally while avoiding contamination. With proper planning, this system can make our neighborhoods cleaner, more hygienic, and humane for both people and workers.

மேலும், சில இடங்களில் உணவுக்கழிவு கம்போஸ்ட் பின் (Compost Bin) அமைக்கலாம். இதில் விலங்குகள் மற்றும் பறவைகள் இயற்கையாக உணவாகக் கொள்ளலாம். சரியான திட்டமிடலுடன், இந்த முறை நம் குடியிருப்புகளை சுத்தமாகவும், ஆரோக்கியமாகவும், மனிதநேயத்துடன் பராமரிக்க உதவும்.
